Friday Favorites

Image
I am loving this Spring weather and all of the wonderful things that come with it.  Spring is full of hope and possibilities. Here are a few of my favorites this week! Oatmeal has never been my favorite, but these overnight rolled oats are so good.  I put 1/2 cup of oats and 1/2 cup of almond milk in a small mason jar and put it in the fridge at night.  The next morning I pop the lid off and heat it in the microwave for 1 minute.  Then add my berries and honey and it.  It's perfect to take with me to school if I am running behind! Our first baby calf of the year was born this week!  Watching her run and try to keep up with her sweet momma is the best. This boy passed his permit test this week!  It is quiet an ordeal to get a permit in Oklahoma these days, so it feels like a huge accomplishment.  I can't wait for him to drive me around everywhere! Target's Universal Thread shoe game is strong this Spring.  These shoes are super comfortab...

New Hampshire

The biggest surprise of our trip was the state of New Hampshire.  I had done so much research on all of the other places on our road trip, but because we were going to see family in New Hampshire, I didn't spend much time planning out our time here.  New Hampshire turned out to be the most beautiful state and we enjoyed our adventures here so much!  The first thing we did when we got into Holderness is to head out on Squam lake with our family.  Squam Lake is known for being the filming location for the 1981 Academy Award winning film "On Golden Pond".   The lake was the perfect way to spend the afternoon.  The water was beautiful! We saw our first covered bridge as while we were on the boat! The kids enjoyed some rock jumping! The water was so smooth to paddleboard on. We headed to our bed and breakfast after we left the lake.   The kids had never stayed at a Bed and Breakfast before, so it was a whole new experience for them.  Th...

Ogunquit Maine

Image
After leaving Boston, we headed north to Maine. It was a very quick and easy trip to our destination of Ogunquit. Ogunquit came highly recommend by my step mother-in-law who grew up in Maine. It turned out to be one of my favorite places I have ever visited. This quaint beach town is somewhere I could see bringing my family back to year after year. The beaches were beautiful, the people were friendly and welcoming, and the food was delicious.  Hotels here are not the same type of massive resorts I’ve become accustomed on the Gulf. Hotels are much smaller and have a very retro feel to them. We stayed at The Milestone and it was perfect for us. The Milestone is on the main strip that runs through town. There are hotels and restaurants that line this street. I loved that the hotel was a 3 minute drive to the beach (with a huge parking lot) and about a 10 minute drive downtown.  There was an old-school feel to it that reminded me of the hotels I stayed at with my grandparents when...
